Introduction to the role

Operations USA, refers to the staff and the physical areas related to all laboratory and operations functions within the region of USA and composed of the sub-unit: Clinical Trials Unit (CTU).
The CTU is responsible for the development and validation of bioanalytical assays to meet the needs of the company or client. These assays are intended for the analysis of clinical samples derived from patients participating in clinical trials locally as well as internationally. The CTU also provides support to other laboratories with research projects, which may or may not be linked to a clinical trial.

DUTIES may include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the unit and how the customer service offering is delivered, including staff, instruments, supporting systems and their productivity, efficiency and quality.
  • Customer focussed and constantly looks for opportunities to improve processes, procedures and systems.
  • Drives and facilitates long term growth and value creation for the company:
    • Helps in defining the long-term strategy and vision for the company and translates those into goals and a vision for the sub-unit.
    • Shows leadership, good citizenship, inspires and sets an example for others to follow.
    • Takes responsibility, helps others and works closely with others beyond the boundaries of the unit to further the success of customers, the company, its staff and stakeholders.
  • Is end-responsible for the unit including:
    • Staff working in the sub-unit, their effectiveness, efficiency, job satisfaction, remuneration, career and skill progress, annual performance reviews.
    • Quality of the customer service delivery in accordance with (company’s) policies and gets personally involved to resolve client issues or support to win new customer business where needed.
    • Long- and short-term capacity and resource planning of staff.
    • Sharing of information, communication and (operational) reporting in the unit
    • Defining of- and delivery against budgets, (annual) goals and KPIs.
    • Managing revenues, costs, capital expenditures, (staff) billability, working capital and output and quality in accordance with budgets and plans

Qualifications & Experience

Essential qualifications: Requires at least a bachelor’s degree in the area of specialty and at least 3-5 years of experience in the field or a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field’s concepts, practices and procedures. Position level will be determined based on skills, education/experience.
