Synexa Life Sciences hosts German Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Global Health at Cape Town laboratories

Synexa Life Sciences was honoured to host the German Parliamentary Sub-Committee on Global Health at our laboratories in Cape Town on 7 February 2024.

The visit highlighted the importance of South Africa and Synexa Life Sciences as partners in the CEPI (Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations) mission to accelerate the development of vaccines and other biologic countermeasures against epidemic and pandemic threats.

CEPI played a central role in the global response to COVID-19, co-leading COVAX – which has delivered around 2 billion doses to 146 countries – and supporting the development of one of the world’s largest portfolios of vaccines against SARS-CoV-2, seven of which have been approved for domestic or global use.

Germany has played a leading role in supporting and contributing to CEPI since its creation in 2017 and is represented on CEPI’s Investor Council. Germany is also the first country to have created a formal Sub-Committee on Global Health within its Parliament. The Sub-Committee covers a wide range of topics regarding global health with pandemic preparedness and response as a focus.

Synexa Life Sciences is a partner of CEPI’s Central Laboratory Network which is a vital component of the #100DayMission according to which vaccines should be ready for initial authorisation and manufacturing at scale within 100 days of recognition of a pandemic pathogen, when appropriate.

Thank you very much to the Chair of the Sub-Committee on Global Health, Andrew Ullmann, the Sub-Committee members, and accompanying colleagues who visited Synexa. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future!
